The company is headquartered in Geneva and manufactures watches in Neuchâtel, Switzerland the use of movements manufactured via Manufacture Horlogère ValFleurier. Panerai watches, designed and manufactured by using Rolex SA, had been worn by means of the frogmen of the Decima Flottiglia MAS in their operations all through World War II. Is Panerai a Luxury Watch?
Since its creation for the Italian military, Panerai has created a name for itself and is now renowned for its Italian design and technical excellence. With clear legibility and luminosity in the dark, this luxury watch brand makes stunning timepieces. Reliable and sophisticated, Panerai is a luxury watch brand that is bold, iconic and instantly recognisable.
Created by Giovanni Panerai, in Florence, Italy, in the 19th century, the brand is known for its sporty, elegant designs. Since its founding, Panerai became the official supplier to the Royal Italian Navy, supplying technical equipment and precision instruments. Between 1935 and 1970, Panerai supplied the majority of their watches to the Italian Marina Militare.
Panerai watches were originally designed for deep sea diving, a radium-based powder, called Radiomire, was developed to make the dials and sights brighter. Then in 1949, Luminor was patented, which used luminescent and self-luminescent materials.

Luminor
Panerai Luminor watches were created when the radium-based Radiomir was replaced by the newly developed, safer substance Luminor. Retaining characteristics of the original design in 1949, Panerai Luminor watches have become an icon in luxury sports watches. But for an active life, the Luminor models offer different amounts of water resistance, the Luminor Marina is water resistant up to 300metres!
Radiomir
One of the most famous diving watches of all time, the Panerai Radiomir was created in 1936 at the request of the Italian Navy. This iconic Panerai watch wasn't available to the public until 1993. This military watch became a cult timepiece. Many of the Radiomir watches are equipped with in-house calibres, so you can be sure of the precision of your watch.
