What is a Custom Watch?
Have you ever wondered what listings mean by "Custom"? In this video, Angus from our watch department discusses how customising luxury watches, such as adding aftermarket diamonds to a Rolex, can impact their value. While personalisation might make a timepiece unique, it often lowers its resale value, as collectors and buyers generally prefer watches in their original, unaltered condition. At Ramsdens, we specialise in high-end pre-owned watches and always advise keeping pieces authentic to maintain their worth. Whether thinking about customisation or investing in a luxury watch, understanding these factors helps you make the most informed choice for your collection.
Video Transcipt
Hi, my name is Angus from the Ramson's watch department and in this video we'll be talking about what is a custom watch and the added benefits. Now for this video we have this Rolex Datejust reference 116233 featuring a custom diamond bezel and a custom mother of pearl diamond set dial. Now the custom tag that you may see on the website applies to watches where we have had third party diamonds fitted to the watch either on the dial or the bezel or both. Now the advantage of buying a custom watch mainly comes down to the cost. This this example at the time of filming is on the website 48199 where the factory set example the 116243 lists online at around £14,000. So a there is a huge saving to get a very very similar look on the watch. Now the diamonds on the watches they are all genuine diamonds. The mother of pearl is genuine mother of pearl. They are just fitted by a third party jeweler and not Rolex themselves. You may also see the custom tag on cartiers where they will have similar diamond effect on the dial or on the case of the watch. If you see the custom tag on a watch that does not feature diamonds, please do not hesitate to contact the watch department directly on 01642579952 or email us at watches ramsonfinancial.co.uk.
