The Omega Seamaster Guide
From the first ever Omega Seamaster watch model to modern-day timepieces made with the latest technology, in this guide we talk about the evolution of Omega Seamaster watches, their features in famous movies and what popular collection caught watch lovers’ attention. The first Omega Seamaster watch was introduced in 1932, but it wasn’t yet branded Seamaster instead it was called the Marine watch and was worn by French Navy Officer, Yves Le Prieur the “father of modern diving”. In 1936 an explorer named Charles William Beebe was spotted wearing the same Omega Marine watch while riding in a bathysphere – an unpowered sea submersible. By this point Omega was already well respected by their diver watches so when the Seamaster models were officially released in 1948 it only bolstered the reputation.Omega Seamaster

The first official Seamaster watch was modelled after waterproof models worn by the British military during World War II. These watches had an O-ring gasket which improved water resistance from its previous diving watches. Turning to submarines as inspiration, the final design of the Seamaster watch included a resilient rubber gasket which could withstand 60 meters of water depth and temperates between -40 and 50 degrees Celsius.
In 1957, Omega rolled out the Seamaster 300 alongside the Speedmaster and Railmaster models when scuba diving was a popular sport. The Omega Seamaster 300 could dive to 200 meters and is designed for underwater use. Since then, Omega has grown to become one of the most popular and well-loved watch brands alongside the Omega Moonwatch and Omega Speedmaster watches. Known for its quality watch movements, the Omega Seamaster has been reliably designed and evolved through the decades in many designs, models and styles to suit various occasions. Omega Seamaster has continued the tradition of being a reliable watch choice for regular divers and those who endure water sports activities.
