About Omega Genève Dynamic

Released as part of the Omega Genève collection, the Omega Dynamic watch was introduced in 1968 in homage to the 1965 Prix de Ville de Genève. Stepping away from tradition, the Omega Dynamic featured a modern design with an elliptical case and integrated bracelet.

Originally powered by an automatic movement and Omega Calibre 565, this Omega Genève watch featured a date function allowing easy date adjustments without turning the hour and minute hands. And it was housed in a unique monocoque case, which provided enhanced protection from water and dust. The Omega Dynamic also boats a reliable and accurate timepiece with a 50-hour power reserve.

Although being later discontinued in 1999, the impact of the Omega Genève Dynamic collection had a long-lasting impact with its innovative design, and the features of this Swiss brand watch have influenced many watchmakers and modern timepieces. Today, it remains a symbol of style and quality, and you can still find vintage Omega Dynamic watches on the market.

Omega Dynamic Models

Within the Omega Genève collection, there are a few different Omega Dynamic models. The first one, called Omega Dynamic Series 1, ran from 1968 to the late 1970s. With an oval-shaped case, this Omega Dynamic watch came in various colours, sizes and strap materials. One of the key features of this series is how customisable it was. The fact that you could easily interchange straps and bracelets led the first generation of Omega Genève to become one of the best-selling lines.

Released in 1984, the Omega Dynamic Series 2 also featured interchangeable straps and bracelets. But this Omega Genève watch offered better visibility of the dial through the added case. This range shared many features with the first series but was discontinued after a few years.

The final models were part of the Omega Dynamic Series 3 released in 1997. These Omega Dynamic watches were different from the other generations as they showcased military-inspired designs and aesthetics. Inspired by watches sent to the British Army and forces during WWII, these were aimed at younger audiences and featured vintage brown straps.

Another watch which offered a youthful sport look was the Omega Chronostop. Although not part of the Dynamic models, this watch offered a time-tracking function and was later transferred to the Omega Genève collection.

Each generation of the Omega Dynamic watch included a few different variations, however, one of the most popular watches in the entire collection was the Omega Dynamic Chronograph. This watch brought memories of previous watches and offered beautiful craftmanship and a second generation which featured an angled case.

Omega Genève Features

There is a wide array of features that you may find in this collection. With the Dynamic Series 1, these watches offer gold-stainless steel bracelets with accents of blue, giving it a vintage feel with a 30 x 26mm shell, automatic movement and water resistance up to 30 meters. You can also find a simpler and more modern look in the first generation with a customisable leather or steel bracelet, a stainless steel case, various dial colours and luminescent hands and a date component.

Although most of the collection offers Omega Dynamic automatic watches, you can also find a quartz movement with water resistance up to 30 meters. These are found within the second generation; one particular model, the Omega Seamaster Dynamic II Quartz, shows a spider-like angled case with a steel or leather bracelet, colour combinations and date component. You can find similar modern watches in the full Omega Seamaster collection.

In the third generation, you can find more rustic-style Omega Dynamic watches. With either leather straps or steel bracelets paired with stainless steel round cases, luminescent numerals and hands, and sub-dials for the chronograph feature. You can also find simple modern designs coming in stainless steel cases and bracelets, black dials and a date component. Both are water resistant up to 50 meters.

Due to the bulky size of the Omega Genève collection, these watches were originally designed to be a men’s Omega watch. Although this style can be worn by women, Omega ladies’ watches offer a more feminine look.

Omega Genève Vintage

Omega Dynamic watches are considered to be a vintage luxury timepiece since these watches are truly a homage to the past and have been discontinued since 1999. With 3 series in the collection, it’s a classic vintage watch in the brand’s history and is great for collectors. Despite the antique look, these watches are incredibly reliable and can still be used today.
