Each season, new trends roll around, and they’re certainly a lot of fun to try. Adding a trend-led piece of jewellery to an old outfit can give it a new lease of life, and also help you to feel like a member of the fashion-forward crowd. Timeless jewellery also deserves a lot of credit, though. There are certain styles of jewellery that can always be relied upon to add an extra dash of style to an outfit. And, because they’re so classic, they’ll look as good in 10 years' time as they do today.

Timeless jewellery styles rarely get highlighted, because we have a tendency to celebrate new and shiny styles that we aren’t used to wearing. They’re just as important, though — if not more so. They make up the foundations of our jewellery collections and can be relied upon, whatever the season. Here, we’re going to look at five of our favourite classic jewellery styles and outline a few great ways to wear them.

Minimalist jewellery

Minimalist jewellery is simple and understated — while it doesn’t always stand out, it can do a great job of adding an edge or some sparkle to an everyday look. Plus, it will do a great job of pulling a look together.

It comes in a huge variety of styles, too, so you have plenty of freedom to pick out the minimalist jewellery that will suit your style. For example, if you’re quite active or work with your hands, you could pick out a subtle pair of stud earrings. Or, if you would like to add a touch of glamour to your fingers, you could invest in a simple gold ring. A plain chain necklace can also do a fantastic job of accessorising any outfit without making too much of a statement.

The beauty of minimalist jewellery is that less is more, so don’t feel like you have to pile the pieces on to look fashionable. One pared back piece of jewellery can help you to look effortlessly stylish, and you won’t have to worry about choosing some other accessories to pair it with.

Yellow gold jewellery

Yellow gold jewellery is arguably the most classic style out there. And, because everyone knows that gold is such a precious metal, it also gives off a sense of luxury, which means it’s great for dressing up any of your looks.

It’s also very versatile, so it will work with any style. If you also like the minimalist look, you could invest in a simple gold chain necklace or ring. Alternatively, if you prefer to really make a statement, you could don some gold chandelier earrings, layer up your necklaces, or stack some gold bangles on your wrist. Yellow gold is undeniably stylish, so you can’t go wrong!

Vintage jewellery

If you’re tired of following trends and would like some seriously timeless jewellery that is guaranteed to stand the test of time, vintage pieces are perfect. They’re going to be true classics, because they’ve already been worn and loved for decades. And, if you buy them from a reputable seller, they’ll look just as good as on the day they were first bought.

Your vintage jewellery will look fantastic on its own, or you could combine it with more modern accessories. For example, a vintage chain necklace can make a great layering piece, or a gemstone ring will make a great feature piece all on its own. You could also go all out with a vintage look from head to toe, but old-school jewellery can also complement a more modern outfit perfectly.

Dainty jewellery

If you like a more intricate style of jewellery but still like to keep your accessories quite understated, dainty jewellery will make a fantastic addition to your collection. Delicate accessories are similar to minimalistic pieces in that they can add a dash of style to any look, but in a very subtle way. For example, a very thin chain can do a great job of pulling an outfit together in an effortless way, while a fine bracelet will attract attention without being too much. Some small decorative studs can also help to show that you've put plenty of thought into your look, but without attracting too much attention.

Dainty jewellery can work beautifully on its own if you prefer a simpler look, but it can also be layered up for more of an eclectic feel. It's incredibly versatile and will always look great.

Diamond jewellery

If you're looking for some timeless accessories that sparkle with glitz and glamour, some diamond jewellery will work perfectly. There are so many different designs to choose from, too, so you can pick out the pieces that are going to complement your wardrobe best.

A pair of diamond stud earrings will work for almost any occasion, whether you're heading to work or meeting your friends for a meal. A diamond ring will attract plenty of compliments, and a diamond necklace will bring a subtle dash of luxury to any look. If you want to elevate any outfit, diamond jewellery is the perfect accessory. Plus, it's timeless, so you'll be investing in an accessory that you'll love and wear for many years to come.

While jewellery trends come and go each season, there are some timeless styles that you can always rely on. Make sure you incorporate some of these jewellery designs into your collection and you'll have an array of pieces that will work for absolutely any occasion, now or even in a few years' time.
